一、Base on

例句：Climatologists base their predictions about climate change on computer simulations.

氣象學家關于天氣變化的預測是根據(jù)計算機模擬測試得出的。

使用“base on”時，一定要寫明什么東西是根據(jù)計算機模擬測試得出的。這是因為“base on ”需要兩個賓語(語言學家稱其為雙賓動詞)。在上面這個例子中，計算機模擬測試是其中一個賓語，氣象學家關于氣候變化的預測是另一個賓語。

①We based our analysis solely on information provided by Mr Andreas Schmitt in his e-mail of last Friday.

②In summary, there are two ways of using “base on” – active or passive.

總之，base on可以有兩種用法——主動和被動。另外，沒有“on the base of” 或是“basing on”這種用法。

二、On the basis of

例句：On the basis of the documentation you sent us, we believe your claim has a good chance of success.

根據(jù)你們送過來的文件我們覺得你們很有可能贏得申訴。

三、“通知期限”的表達方式有以下兩種：

例句：①Under Clause 4.2 one month’s notice is required in order to terminate the agreement.

根據(jù)條款4.2的規(guī)定，終止協(xié)議前須要有一個月的通知期限。

②Under Clause 4.2 a one-month notice period is required in order to terminate the agreement.

根據(jù)條款4.2的規(guī)定，終止協(xié)議前須要有一個月的通知期限。

除了以上兩種表達，其余的表達或者混合這兩種的表達都是錯誤的。第一種表達中，“notice”是不可數(shù)名詞，所以前面不需要加“a/an”。而第二種表達中，“notice period”是可數(shù)的，所以一定要用“a notice period”來表示?！皁ne-month”在這里是復合形容詞，當中需要加連字符。
