Frequency distributions are used to organize and summarize data. They show how often each value or range of values occurs in a set of data. A frequency distribution can be presented in a table or a graph.

To create a frequency distribution, follow these steps:

1. Determine the range of values in the data set.
2. Divide the range into equal intervals, called classes.
3. Count the number of data points that fall into each class.
4. Record the frequency of each class in a table or graph.

For example, consider the following set of data:

5, 8, 2, 6, 3, 9, 5, 7, 4, 8, 1, 6, 7, 3, 5, 2, 9, 4, 8, 6

To create a frequency distribution for this data, we can use the following steps:

1. The range of values is 1 to 9.
2. We can divide the range into 5 equal classes: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9.
3. Count the number of data points that fall into each class:

9 2

4. Record the frequency of each class in a table or graph:

This frequency distribution shows that the most common values in the data set are in the 5-6 class, with a frequency of 5.
